Your rite of passage to Thailand’s indoor climbing scene usually begins at Stonegoat Climbing Gym. The latest bouldering gym in town, Stonegoat caters to both beginner and advanced climbers with its variety of route-setting styles, high Walltopia walls, and friendly community and staff.
Strategically situated near Phra Khanong BTS, it is claimed to be the largest bouldering gym in Thailand. This Thailand climbing gym also organizes plenty of fun events such as movie nights watching Reel Rock documentaries and novice competitions. There is also a delicious cafe within the compound so you can take a break and catch your breath before your next climb.
However, be prepared to brave the heat in this popular gym. There seems to be only one working air-conditioning system and the large industrial fans do not promote enough ventilation in the area.
Routes are regularly resetted every 6 weeks so there’s always something to look forward to every other month. If you are planning to get here by car, there are plenty of parking spots for you to choose from.

7. Professional Thailand Climbing
Did you know there’s a climbing wall inside the Big C Supercenter at Ladprao?
Right in the middle of the mall is a tall structure with 4-sided climbing walls for all to experience. It is currently managed by an experienced climbing couple, Majid and Boonchuay, who are also known as the Professional Thailand Climbing team. Climbing holds here are marked with colored tapes, with climbing grades ranging from 5a to 7c.
Although the routes are more top-rope focused, you can lead climb as well (if you are not cutting into anyone’s lane, of course!). There are a total of 50 climbing routes on 10-meter (35-feet) high walls with 9 anchors.
Majid also makes minor changes to routes bi-weekly and major resets to the walls every month. In addition to that, he also cleans and replaces the climbing holds every quarter. For a two-man show, I am very impressed by his dedication and passion!

Another great option for indoor climbing in Thailand is the Progression Vertical Climbing Gym that is managed by Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (CMRCA). Located in the northern city of Chiang Mai, this gym offers a more laid-back atmosphere, with a range of grades with any level of experience.
It’s an open-air establishment with a kid-friendly top-out boulder, a couple of bouldering walls, top-rope and lead climbing routes to test your fear of heights.
For first-timers, you can participate in their one-hour Fun Climbing course which is fully guided with equipment rental included for 495 baht ($ 14).
CMRCA also offers outdoor climbing trips, instructional courses, and summer camps to some of the most beautiful natural climbing spots in Thailand, making it a great choice for individuals who are keen to explore both indoor and outdoor climbing.

13. DEEP Climbing Gym
DEEP Climbing Gym is the first indoor climbing gym to open in Pattaya. Located inside Harbor Pattaya Shopping Mall on the 8th floor, it has a series of top rope, auto belay, lead and bouldering routes.
Although conveniently located around the downtown area, the quality of the gym has degraded over the years, partly due to a decrease in crowd size in this fun-themed mall. In addition, the constant price hike, lack of proper maintenance and English-speaking staff has turned away a few customers.
However, if you are looking for an indoor place for some family fun activity, DEEP Climbing Gym has value to offer. You will get a free rental of harness and climbing shoes with a day pass purchase.
Where: Harbor Pattaya 190/25 Central Pattaya Rd, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
Day Pass (adult): 480 baht for 3 hours
Opening hours:
Weekdays: 10:30 am to 7 pm
Weekends: 10:30 am to 7:30 pm
14. Bean Cow Climbing Gym and Community Center
Bean Cow Climbing Gym and Community Center started in the pandemic when the founder Malee wanted a venue that reflected the vibe of a close-knit community depicted in old school rock climbing gyms in the United States. Hence, a place for indoor bouldering in Thailand was born as an inclusive space for everyone to gather together and climb.
It currently has:
- a bouldering section with 4.5-meter (14-feet) walls
- top-rope/lead 6 to 8-meter (20 to 27-feet) walls
Climbers are allowed to belay each other if they pass the gym’s belay certification test.
Routes are resetted weekly by section, with a full gym reset every six weeks. What I like about this gym is their unique grading system according to spiciness level starting with “mai ped” (not spicy in Thai) to “ped mak mak” (very spicy in Thai). So if you like it extra spicy, then go for the maximum chilli peppers!
If climbing passes are beyond your budget, the gym is looking for volunteers in exchange for a free day pass or a monthly climbing pass! Roles including administration, teaching, operations, and logistics are all welcomed. It’s a great way for solo travelers to experience the Pattaya climbing community.
In addition, the gym also organizes fun events such as Ladies Climbing Night and fitness workshops. You can also work, chill, or play games in the rest area for some downtime.
For first-timers, you will get one free belay on your first visit from the gym staff.
Where: 61, 23 M. 1, Muang Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand
Day Pass (adult): 250 baht ($ 7)
Opening hours:
Tuesday, Thursday: 4 pm to 9 pm
Wednesday, Friday: 9 am to 12 pm, 4 pm to 9 pm
Weekends: 10 am to 7 pm
Closed on Mondays
15. Alpine Outpost
Started in 2021, this small bouldering gym is becoming a crowd favorite in Chiang Mai for its creative route setting and welcoming community. Also known as CNX Bouldering Gym, it is located in a training center at the corner of Wildside CNX.
Whether you are a beginner climber or a serious boulderer, Alpine Post has a few equipment in place for you to train to your heart’s content such as:
- Fingerboards
- Campus boards
- weights training area
You can even choose your own music playlist (after getting to know the staff members). Do note that this gym is an open-air establishment with no air conditioning so dress accordingly and bring lots of water.
Overall the gym gives out chill vibes and a perfect place to spend a day wandering around this sports park. There are also a lot of restaurant options nearby so you can grab a local Pad Thai before or after your climb!
Alpine Outpost members also get 10% off on their local cafe food and drinks.
Where: Suthep Amphoe, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand
Day Pass (adult): 380 baht ($ 11)
Opening hours:
Weekdays: 12 pm to 8:30 pm
Weekends: 10 am to 7 pm
