2. Oahu Bouldering Gym

Formerly known as the Arch Project Climbing Center, this bouldering indoor gym in Hawaii is located in the industrial warehouse next to Beer Lab. This gym attracts many boulderers from a wide range of skill so you will definitely enjoy climbing here!
The indoor climbing routes are graded by color instead of having a tag at a starting hold to indicate the climb. Personally I find it more efficient to identify routes rather than checking the starting hold of each route to determine the grade. For example, yellow color holds are their easiest routes.
This climbing gym Oahu organizes many fun events, such as Cosmic Climbing where you get to climb glow-in-the-dark holds.
For first timers, you will need to sign a safety waiver prior to arrival.
There is limited street parking available on Uke’e Street so come early to get your parking slot!

3. Big Island Climbing – Indoor Climbing Adventure
When indoor rock climbing in Hawaii, Big Island Climbing is often the place boulderers will look out for. This Hilo gym not only has 14-foot high walls with 700 square foot of bouldering area, it also offers massage services (for those tensed muscles!) and a virtual reality space for all ages to enjoy.
It is definitely family-friendly and beginner-friendly so you will have a blast here! If you consider yourself an intermediate climber, the gym also sets some difficult routes graded up to V9.
They are located one block away from the Pacific Tsunami museum, at the intersection of Kalakaua and Keawe street.
Do note that there are no shower rooms in this gym. Also only liquid chalk is allowed in the gym, which is available for purchase.

4. Volcanic Rock Gym
The story of Volcanic Rock Gym is an interesting one when it comes to its location. The climbing gym was initially located in Waipio, moved to Kaka’ako before eventually finding its place for rock climbing in Kailua, Oahu. They are now next to Lanikai Brewery so stop by for a drink before or after your climb.
This climbing gym in Oahu stopped operating in March 2019 and reopened on 16 October 2022. So expect fresh new holds and fancy equipment!
There’s no doubt that Volcanic Rock Gym has an immensive support from their climbing community (you can find plenty of comments on their social media). They now have a 24 feet adjustable Lemur Wall that can go up 40 degrees overhang , two Kilterboards, a Tension Board, and moonboard. Their 15-foot bouldering walls are often resetted, with competition bouldering walls included as well.

Ascension Community Climbing Gym is a community driven indoor climbing gym in Hilo dedicated to climbing, ninja warrior courses, aerial silk and pretty much any fun equipment that reolves around upper body strength and heights.
