I’ve done the research for you on all the pet-friendly climbing gyms in the U.S.A. where you can bring your pets or pat a friendly resident dog (or cat) if the gym has one!
I personally love visiting stores with pets, regardless if they are at climbing gyms as it is something I can look forward to after a long day at work.
It’s similar to having pet therapy in your library campus, except now it’s for adults to destress in a safe space!

1. Crux Climbing Center, Texas
This leading climbing gym in Texas is a pet-friendly climbing gym that allows dogs to hang around inside the gym as long as it is leashed with someone attending to it.
It currently has two locations in Austin, Texas but will be opening two more outlets within Texas (lucky Texans!). The Central Austin location has a 22,000 square feet facility with only bouldering whereas the South Austin site has lead and top-rope climbing.
The Crux Climbing Center at South Austin has 6 auto belay routes, multiple top-rope and lead climbing routes that are reset once a month.
Also, expect no less than a warm and welcoming community not just for your dogs but for humans as well. You will grow to love this place and feel encouraged to climb harder and stronger.

2. Denver Bouldering Club, Colorado
One of the best pet-friendly climbing gyms in the United States, Denver Bouldering Club welcomes dogs to the gym as long as they are leashed and well-trained.
Denver Bouldering Club has 3 locations: Central, North, and South. The cool thing about this gym is that it is definitely well thought-out for its members. 24/7 access for members to its 35,000 square feet of bouldering space, Wi-Fi workspaces, snacks and coffee, gym, and cardio equipment, and most importantly, dogs can join!
Only well-behaved house-trained pets are allowed to enter the gym and they must be leashed (we don’t want a running dog on the mats!). And the best part? Good doggos will get a treat 🙂

3. North Mass Boulder, Indianapolis
Heading to the Midwest, this bouldering gym is pet-friendly (as long as they are leashed) not only by the climbing area but also in its cafe, Top Out Cafe (super delicious meals). It’s a great place to mingle with other climbers with plenty of events hosted within the month (including beer!).
Their past events have had over 300 people attending so it is perfect to network and meet people! Events such as Queer Nights, Women Crush Mondays, and College Nights show that this gym focuses on inclusivity.
Other than their climbing gyms, they have meditation, yoga, and dance classes, and a chance to karaoke too!
P.S. The vegan grilled cheese and the avocado toast are the BEST!

4. Asylum, California
This pet-friendly outdoor climbing gym takes it up a notch with the addition of a dog-run! Yes, your dogs can run around while you climb to your heart’s content!
Asylum is located in warm and sunny San Diego where the weather is great all year round to climb and walk your dogs. While the gym is smaller in size, it makes up through its large community events where non-climber friends can hang at the lawn and chill while they watch you climb.
And if you are new to bouldering, Asylum offers a one-week ($ 30) and two-week ($ 40) introductory membership at a super affordable price that comes with a free introduction class and unlimited free gear rental until your package ends.

5. Climb Tacoma, Washington
Most pet-friendly climbing gyms will restrict to dogs (and maybe cats) to enter their premises but Climb Tacoma does it differently — it welcomes all pets as long it is legal in the United States.
While pets are required to be leashed, the management has graciously provided enough facilities to keep your pets hydrated with their water bowl and a pet hitching station.
There is also a wall of fame for all pets brought to Climb Tacoma called Doggos of Climb Tacoma where your pet gets its Polaroid photos captured and hung on the wall (The “doggo” term is inclusive to all pets).
The owners do bring their dogs in as well such as Brandon, Graham, and Oso. So if you are lucky, you may get to see them!

6. Cirque Climbing Gym, Washington
Here’s one that might excite you, a photo dog contest?! Cirque hosted its first annual “Dogs of Cirque” competition which included an adoption day so climbers can bring home a crag dog to accompany them on their climbs.
But this Washington climbing gym isn’t just biased toward dogs. They have a cat named Les who does an amazing job as a receptionist. So if lots of dogs and a climbing gym are a paradise for you, then Cirque Climbing Gym is the right spot to be.
There are also plenty of community events held here including Women’s Nights where you can bring in friends for free and non-members can get a day pass for half price! What a steal!

7. VITAL Climbing Gym, California
Here at Vital Climbing Gym in California, there are two locations you can bring your dogs to: Carlsbad and Murrieta. It is a bouldering-only gym, with new routes every week to add a fresh perspective to climbers.
The Carlsbad location is much smaller in comparison to its Murrieta branch, in which Murrieta is twice the size of Carlsbad. Nevertheless, all gyms come with a campus and hangboards, fitness equipment, and a café.
However, the best part about all VITAL Climbing locations is its 24-hour member access to the climbing gym so you can go for your midnight climbs when everyone else is away! You will be given a door password code via email or text each month to visit the gym during its special hours.

Washington definitely has a few pet-friendly climbing gyms so we can’t forget VITAL Climbing Gym’s other branch, Bellingham! I love the consistent route setting in this location so you can monitor your progress as you train regularly here.
The Bellingham outlet pricing is definitely more steep compared to its sister locations, and hence, I recommend signing up as a member to make use of its all-day access.
Dogs are allowed if they are leashed, quiet, and well-behaved. Dogs are however not allowed in certain areas such as the climbing mat, upstairs, or on any furniture.

9. Rock Out Climbing Gym, Florida
Aside from being a dog-friendly climbing gym, Rock Out Climbing Gym is also beginner-friendly with multiple bouldering problems ranging from V0 to V7 (and tough routes too for the seasoned climber). With its spacious area, there is plenty of room to move around such as climbing on the top-out boulder and using the weightlifting area.
If you are visiting for the first time, you can get a discounted package of $ 26 inclusive of a day pass, introduction to bouldering and items such as rental shoes, and chalk. You will also need to authorize your pet with the manager and sign the gym’s one-time terms of attendance at the welcome desk!

10. BaseCamp Climbing Gym, Nevada
It’s great to have another dog-friendly spot, this time in Nevada. Nestled inside a hotel, this full-fledged climbing gym not only has top rope, auto-belay, and bouldering but also the world’s largest outdoor artificial climbing wall!
The bouldering section attracts the most guests to climb but what makes this gym unique is its cozy vibes and approachable community. There is also a weightlifting gym section for conditioning along with two sauna rooms (dry and steam) to relax after your climbs.
You will also see 2 to 3 dogs in the gym that are super friendly with guests so you can pet them after a good climb!

11. The Front Climbing Club, Utah
Salt Lake City is blessed with this indoor climbing gym that covers everything from auto-belay, lead climbing, bouldering, top rope, and a large weightlifting facility.
But what makes this gym unique is that the owner supports rescue dogs and organizes adoption drives. In fact, to make dogs feel more welcomed, there is a sheltered dog park area at the side of the building so pets can roam freely!
This flagship location is undergoing renovation to expand its largest climbing gym in Utah to a more versatile space with more restroom facilities and a bigger gym training center.

I am breaking the rules here to include this climbing gym as UpTown isn’t a pet-friendly climbing gym. HOWEVER, the owner’s dogs will be around such as Cooper that will be around to welcome you warmly.
This is also Louisiana’s largest climbing gym with 60+ rope stations, a speed wall, 90-foot wide bouldering wall, 6 auto-belay stations, crack climbing, and a sport leading climbing wall.
But don’t be intimidated by it, the routes are absolutely perfect for any expertise level so you will still get your full body workout by the end of it!

This isn’t a human climbing gym but instead, a climbing wall dedicated for dogs in a dog park!
Bar K is an event space for dog and dog owners to come together and build community while creating fun activities for your pets to be engaged! There are multiple dog parks available for both large and small dogs.
Even if you don’t have a dog, you can visit this place for free too as there are restaurants to dine!
Bar K has three locations: two in Missouri and one in Oklahoma. But if these locations are too far, you can also have a similar climbing workout for your dogs with this tool to your bed!

Is It Okay To Bring My Service Dog To The Climbing Gym?
You can bring your service dog to the gym. Most gyms allow service dogs (but not pets) as long as it is kept leashed within a certain area and away from the mats.
What Type Of Leash Is Good For Crag Dogs?
My personal favorite leash is Ruffwear’s Crag leashes which are reflective and can be tied around the waist so your dog is kept close to you at all times.
Does Movement Callowhill Allow Dogs?
Movement Callowhill no longer allows dogs at its premises. What used to be the attraction of the gym with its dog Cibo is no longer the same with new management.
